ANZAC Day At Flemington

I was lucky enough to be invited to spend ANZAC day at the Flemington ANZAC day races.

Knowing full well that my best friend MasterCard would definitely say "no" to another dress purchase, I searched through my wardrobe and found this Zimmermann from their Spring/Summer 2011/2012 collection. I fell in love with this dress the minute I saw it float down the runway, three years later and my love affair with this piece is still going strong. The intricate lace cutout bib, the delicate insets of Hessisan and the crisp white and neutral colour palate ensures this dress is a standout where ever I wear it. This dress truly is a testament to the saying "you get what you pay for" and proof that it pays to investment shop.

Once I'd decided this dress was the one that would be making an appearance on ANZAC day, my next task was accessorising. I wanted to stick with the neutral colour palate and I definitely wanted to wear a hat (as most of you know, I'm currently obsessed with hats). After searching high and low for a fedora that would be shipped in time, I settled on this Ace of Something fedora in Camel- I would highly recommend their fedoras it was warm, comfortable and had the perfect brim size- not to big, not to small. I then snapped up this Oroton envelope clutch on sale and completed my look with stacked Mimco heels (also from a few seasons ago). As the dress speaks for itself I kept my jewellery to a minimum.

I must admit I was very worried about the weather during the week (even though I was going to be inside- I hate being cold). I was panicked that I would have to do an outfit change right up to the 11th hour, although Melbourne came through and we had perfect weather all day, with a slick of red lipstick I was all set.

Hope you all had a fabulous day too and enjoyed celebrating and reflecting upon the scarifies others made for us.

Pink Coats: The Edit

Pink Coats have earned the label of 'must have item of the season', first popping up on Fall 2013 runways in collections from Celine, Carven and Mulberry to name a few. We then saw them all over the streets of New York and Europe and now in time for the Australian winter, Pink coats have filtered down to most chain stores.

Here is my edit of the trend, featuring various price points, various shades of pink and various styles. For inspiration I've styled the look two different ways.

Enjoy

The Liebster Award

When scrolling through the comments left on my posts today I noticed a comment with the message, "Hi, I've nominated you for the Liebster Award! Find the details on my blog.” I almost dismissed it but curiosity got the better of me and I quickly found myself pasting the url into my address bar.

'Lovely Linny Likes' is the person who had nominated me for the Liebster Award and she has a whole post with lots of information about it. I was very excited and appreciative when I read this:

"Most bloggers, at some point, have heard of or received the Liebster Award, unless you are a newbie. From the extensive searches I have conducted in my attempts to learn about this award, I have visited a bunch of blogs and learned the following information:

1. This award exists only on the Internet, and is given to bloggers by other bloggers.
2. It has German origins – the word “liebster” has several definitions: dearest, sweetest, kindest, nicest, beloved, lovely, kind, pleasant, valued, cute, endearing, welcome and sweetheart.

3. It follows similar principles as a chain letter, in the sense that it should be passed forward to a certain number of people.
It is said that the Liebster Award was created to recognize and/or discover new bloggers and welcome them to the blogosphere.

The Official Rules Of The Liebster Award
If you have been nominated for The Liebster Award AND YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT, write a blog post about the Liebster award in which you:

1. thank the person who nominated you, and post a link to their blog on your blog.

2. display the award on your blog — by including it in your post and/or displaying it using a “widget” or a “gadget”. (Note that the best way to do this is to save the image to your own computer and then upload it to your blog post.)

3. answer 11 questions about yourself, which will be provided to you by the person who nominated you.

4. provide 11 random facts about yourself.

5. nominate 11 blogs that you feel deserve the award, who have a less than 1000 followers. (Note that you can always ask the blog owner this since not all blogs display a widget that lets the readers know this information!)

6. create a new list of questions for the blogger to answer.

7. list these rules in your post (You can copy and paste from here.) Once you have written and published it, you then have to:

8. Inform the people/blogs that you nominated that they have been nominated for the Liebster award and provide a link for them to your post so that they can learn about it (they might not have ever heard of it!)”
( this was taken directly from http://wordingwell.com/the-liebster-award-the-official-rules-my-first-blog-award-and-a-few-personal-secrets-revealed/ )
